Hugo Zacchini III, 1965 (From Jim Cole)

Hugo Zacchini III, 1965, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Buckles, A few more cannon photos. Notice the Ringling postcard from the Houston Astrodome (1966), watchful eyes can see the Munoz cannon parked out in left field. This act must have been added for that date, as I see no records of it in their regular '66 program.

I know little about this "Capt. Sputnik", he also went by the name of the "Great Ivan". The cannon was on Hamid-Morton in 1960, at that time it was painted silver, and was often confused with the Zacchini cannons. I do have this act on an old "Super Circus" video tape.

The picture above was taken from the Amusement Buisness magazine in 1965. Hugo 3rd (aka Butch) is a son of Hugo 1st, and presently lives in Red Level, AL, and has possession of this cannon. I had a nice visit with him in 2003 and he allowed me to take photos of the cannon. He has a son, also named Hugo (4th), whom I understand is involved in car racing
