This poster was originally done for Hugo when he was over there in 1958 so it was titled Clyde Beatty Circus and had Hugo's name.
Hugo was back in 1959 after the show title changed to Beatty-Cole but the advance still had boxes of the original poster so it was not reissued with the new title (a number of "Clyde Beatty Circus" posters were used during the early Beatty-Cole years).
The show bought the Wilno cannon when we played Rochester in 1960 and the bill was then printed for 1961 as you see it here.
They may have come up with the name Capt Astronaut for use on the poster even before Munoz was hired.
Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them Volley'd and thunder'd; Storm'd at with shot and shell, Boldly they rode and well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six hundred.
Yes... indeed...this poster was made for Hugo,in 1958. I was at that time working for Alberto Zoppe, with the Bareback riding act, a fantastic great act... it was there that I got married, to Julian Arnosi. for over 50 years and a haft. that same year there was weddings, Joe Sieth to Encarnita...Erney. ( Blinko ) to Maran,...and Julian and I. from all six of us the only one here in this world , is Joe and me...It was a great year, and Clyde Beatty was a fantastic man was there with us all the time, great memories. sincerely Mireille...
CBCB also used posters in 1964 that said "Greatest Show On Earth". The one I saw was in an empty in Sheboygan, WI and I couldn't get it. I sure would have liked to have that one.
Also one time in 1964, after Boom- Boom made the anouncement, that "absolute quiet was required so Capt. Astronaut could made the final adjustments", the band was talking among themselves just like usual and yes, I was one of them, when Boom-Boom told us to shut up. Bob Kitto

The "Globe" in that sheet you
refer to Bob actually said
