From Army Maguire #1

Here is a whip I just made . It is a flat 3 slit braid whip. It is similar
to a standard two slit braid but this incorporates three flat strands or
laces as opposed to just two strands. This alternates the slit braids for
4 passes and then there is an equal flat thong on one side while the other
side continues the slit braids. This pattern alternates all the way for the
length of the six foot whip. I made the handle also from scratch out of
rattan.
Clyde Beatty used to use some thing.
This is not a direct copy of his lash. I attach the keeper
differently as well as the poppers. Not too many folks still making these
to my knowledge. I want to thank my long time friend Junior Ruffin for
teaching me this style of lash making.

I make the flat lash also. I have a number of twisted stocks that need finishing with new lashes. Without an act now, I have become rather discouraged, and have not made the lashes, but I need to get busy again, and re-stock the whip box.

By the way, this is excellent work, Army. Really fine craftsmanship.
