"Chewy" Davenport is still in the North Country with his Family Big Top Circus. I had a chance to visit on Sept.5 in Mondovi, Wisconsin, the town had lots of posters up, although they were very small. The big top and transportation looked very good as well as the six privately owned living quarters. The midway had a pony ride, moon bounce and reasonably priced concession foods, each $3 or less. The marquee/sun shade matched the big top but was not connected to the show tent. I saw no place where tickets could be purchased, pre-sales were $10 and day of show $14 for adults and kids free. Brian LaPalme announced and did magic and was the only performer not of latin descent. I found all the staff courteous and friendly, the pitches were not obtrusive or long lasting. The thing that stood out for me was the wardrobe, each and every performer looked great, enough sequinsto make a seamstress go blind. Line up was: 14 tear old juggler, cradle, clown, short peanut pitch, aerial lyra, three percheron liberty act, hula hoops, Spanish web, magic, incline motorcycle, photo-op with recognizable but unmentioned kids characters, Russian swing, clown, very good spinner of chrome pyramid and square tubes, fire eating by LaPalme closed the show. |

Jesus Fuentes would visit our show in Mexico and everyone referred to him as "Chewy" (spelling?)
I think this means "boss" in Spanish.
Chuy is how i know that any one name Chuy means Jesus example Pancho stands for Fransico or frank CleanRaul
What a nice looking little show. I'm kind of removed from the business these days so this is a new one for me but I think I would enjoy seeing this show.

i saw this show in mauston 9-12. i really didnt want to go but i deferred to my wife. i have to admit it was highly enjoyable. the participants really seemed to enjoy their work and i really enjoyed watching the kids in the crowd. growing up in milwaukee i attending the ringling brothers big circuses back in the day. while you wont find any elephants or tigers all in all it was great. i commend the folks putting it on what a hard working group.
