I believe that carefully executed

dotted line was the path for the

train to follow so as not to rub

the ring curb (after the fact)

This picture might be a bit confusing.
Anna May is positioning herself on two tubs to become the centerpiece for the cross-mount.
The elephants approached from both directions.
One newspaper likened it to forming the final curtain to the performance.
I left the elephants out deliberately so a lot of familiar faces could be seen.

The train was too long, it didn’t track well, and the Caboose was banging down the 30 foot doors that poured daylight, heat, and breeze into the wings off of stage left. The driver of the train (Dan who left with the Captain on the blue show) painted the white broken lines with the irremovable white paint that we see in this picture. It was a blunder to the lighting tech because back then we were still using the backlight sequence. That is Riggor running off right of center stage; probably saving the day by getting the stage ready for the cross mount. The cross mount extended passed these huge doors and into the back lot, and these elephants were fast. If I remember correctly it was a bitch for the band to keep in time with the heard. Every animal on the lot was exceptional as if there was a code or something among them.
