Circus Today #1 (From Eric Beheim)

CT-1, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

In 1926, Mack Sennett released CIRCUS TODAY, a 2-reel slapstick comedy starring Billy Bevan, Andy Clyde and Madeline Hurlock.

Billy and Andy play two inept show hands working for a circus that, according to a title card, “showed under one tent and six mortgages.”

While scrolling down this very enjoyable set of photos, we are taping a 1933 movie entitled "The Circus Queen Murder", starring Adolphe Menjou (a Jersey boy, I believe), replete with bulls pushing wagons out of the mud on a dark rainy night, a street parade,
accompanied by Sousa music and a main character billed in the show as "The Great Sebastian". Wonder if DeMille saw this movie.
