This is probably an old European-made carousel (or "Round-About" as they call them in England) which turns in a clock-wise direction.
If I remember correctly it did come over from England. The man the developed the park was Warner LeRoy. His dad produced or directed the movie "The Wizard of Oz". He also owned The Tavern on the Green in NYC Central Park. Some of the designs around the park are of the same as the restaurant.
The words Carousel and Merry Go round are interchangable. Nothing different between them.
Did some research and it indeed did come from England as I thought.
