I guess there is criteria in who gets what. I traveled up to Peru to represent Buckles in his Hall of fame ind. and later traveled to be there for my own ind. At both times I was not even given a seat in the reviewing stand and was not given anyplace to ride in the parade. In fact I stood on a street corner and watched the parade go by. I really felt slighted, to say the least. Prior to the parade the Hall of fame director told me that they had nothing to do with parade other than use of wagons, and then Lo and Behold here came a couple of wagons with John Fugate and the Hall of fame performers. Oh well I did not ask for it, but can assure all that here in Sarasota in our Circus Celebrity series and Ring of Fame inductees that they are given the utmost in recognition. It still hurts and I wonder if they have even put my photo in a glass case? All in all the induction ceremoney there is pretty shabby and if the powers that be are insulted then feel free to remove me from your trecords with a letter of termination. Or a letter of apology. Seems loke Mr. Fugate is the decision maker in regard to who from HOF goes in the parade.

Wow, sorry to hear that you did not get a free ride in the horsey drawn buggy. Althought I have never been an inductee in anything, at least Mr.Fugate gave me a ride in his Montana mini Van when he bought it last summer, so at least I've got that going for me.I just left there and they do have a nice spread on the Woodcock tribe. Not all the lights were on when I walked through there so did not get to see it all. They do have a nice rundown on a lot of folks. Free buggy ride or not I envy you Mr.Herriott for being one of their inductees, and you surly get my "vote".

To Cry or not to Cry over the Criteria, this is the question?
All in all I must say that any time I got the chance to visit the Big Apple Circus ( also their winter quarters in NY ), the group of folks in charge have been very gracious to me and my family and were very hospitable.I must say I am glad to see "Paul Binder" get his free "Horsey drown buggy ride"
and I also agree with what
Mr.Chic Silber stated; never the less this has got me to thinking, I just wonder if that John Fugate also gave Mr.Binder a ride in his Montana Mini van?????

"Folks that really matter"?
Why hell, that would be myself and Chic Silber.
In regards to the
"Book of the month club"
I am not going to look a gift horsey in the mouth or the buggy.

Chic Silber said...

Well Wade if you play your cards

right then maybe I'll add you

to the list and then submit it

to the committee then who knows

Committee boiler room,
When did "How to Win Friends and Influence People" become a part of a Hall of Fame induction? I thought it was about accomplishments/achievements, records set, influence on your industry, etc, etc.

Just shows how little you know

Wade so on 2nd thought I just

crossed you off the list

(In memory of Otto's list)

Positively one of the best

running "in the seats" gags

for those of us that are able

to remember that far back

It certainly was, Mr. Silber... it certainly was. ~frank

The ones I remember best along

with the "List On The Clipboard"

include the "Railway Express"

package delivery and the "Block

Of Ice" delivery

What I remember best was his juggling of the pie pans and flying his hat over the arena like a Frisbee and it coming back to him everytime. THAT was preshow entertainment! ~frank

..Oh.. and when Otto would take the lady's arm from her husband and follow her to her seat... I think he caused more heart palpatations than Karloff! ~frank

Thanks for those Frank

I don't know if he was first

with playing one side of the

audience against the other but

he certainly mastered that

with his bent pie tins

How fortunate for us to have

seen him and his kind as I

don't believe we will live

to see anything like that again
