I am surprised they used such small dogs. I don't think this act could be used as a ring act. Most probably on stage. Right?
I have seen a film of this act in the Garden with the Ringling Show in the early '50's.
They were working on a long table.
The part I remember best was a dog standing upright pushing a baby carriage. At one point a trip wire tipped the carriage over forward and a bunch of weenie dog pups spilled out and scampered all around.
The audience loved it.
Didn't Diane Wison have a dachshund act. along with sea lions and bird acts?
Speaking of little dogs: What about Rosaire's Pekingese, Cimse's Pomerainians, and a Yorkie act who's name I can't recall. I know there are more examples.
Willy Storey's younger daughter had a Yorkie act on Beatty-Cole in the '80s and Ringling Gold very recently had a dachshund act.

Just goes to show ya... it ain't always about the size of the dog! ~frank
That was Tina who was married
to John Whitfield for a time
Mary France (Astie) Timmerman
who is married to Sampion also
had a yorkie act for years
I believe that was Marie France that had the Yorkie Act. Tina Storey had two Yorkies but they were not in an act. Tina did a single-trap.

As a dachshund owner, I will vouch for the fact their personalities lend themselves well to show business!
