Howdy Capt, my wife and I made a trip to NJ this past weekend to visit the elephants I brought over from Uganda back in 74. Here is a few photos of the Big male that is there. I named him Rip because his right ear is torn and his tail is a stump. He had a run in with a pride of lions as a little guy. He is in the video on utube also and shows him to be quite smaller. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwCSjTT3Bjg&feature=related |

How big?
As big as a house!
Hi Gary, I am sending a copy of the photos to Rebecca a/k/a "Dutchess"via snail mail.
How big of a house? Yours or Obama's?
The door to his indoor stall is 12 foot they said. He is a heavy boy tho they want to install a truck scale, so they can keep track of his weight when they get the funds to build him a new elephant house and pen.
What a beautiful animal
Are these elephants kept in free or protected contact?
The 6 girls are out in an area with the wire and hotwire. The road winds around where they are with a lake at the curve. When they were little, I had a man on foot with them to keep them away from the road. There was a long hay manger that held 40 square bales and we filled it twice aday. If you click on this site you can see how it was back in 75.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwCSjTT3Bjg&feature=related
In part two of the films, there is good footage of Rip, scratching his butt on the feeder, chasing an ostrich and standing in front of my truck. Also in the clip is the Forest elephant that I had too. She has the really round ears and pointy head. She walks behind the larger one taking a crap! Rip is in front of her also.
