Florian #11

Florian11, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

This extended sequence provides a fairly good approximation of an actual Spanish Riding School performance. In addition to Madame Jeritza’s two Lipizzans, it appears that Andalusian and other Iberian horse breeds were used. (Listed in the cast credits is Jack Joyce, who was undoubtedly involved in choreographing and staging this presentation.)

According to Bill Ballantine’s WILD TIGERS AND TAME FLEAS, Jack Joyce worked in Hollywood as an animal handler and trainer from 1938 to 1944, primarily for M-G-M. It was during that time that he got experience working with camels.
