What an Interesting Cat !
( Trevor that Is )
Along with working togeather at Circus World for 2 Years , He even Performed with us as
" Bumbolini ; the Maginificent " ( in the Clown LEVATION GAG )
his Last Day with the show .
We coresponded ocasionally in his Golden Years & I also Assisted Him Perform in a Circus he put on across the street from his home for all the Local Children in his neighborhood in 1991 as his Tramp Clown .
He always maintained His Flamboyant Circus Charactor , Style & Spirit sharing advise , guidance & endless Entertaining Tales of a Life in the Old School Traditional Circus's throughout Europe & South Africa .
Could this be just a publicity photo (my guess) or did Mr. Bale really perform in a top hat?
Edwin Trevor Bale also known
as "Tommy" to his wife "Reenie"
(Irene) and a few older friends
He always maintained a very
distinguished public persona
The patriarch of an extremely
accomplished and talented
family that I am proud to be
friends with over 50 years
He could well have performed
in that hat but I remember
him in an Indian turban
In his chapter on Trevor Bale in WILD TIGERS AND TAME FLEAS, Bill Ballantine has a nice drawing of him with a top hat, so this photo probably dates from the early 1950s. As seen in surving video of the 1961 Ringling TV special, Bale presented his tiger act wearing an outfit similar to that of an East Indian Gurkha soldier, including the turban Chic mentioned.
