Decent looking makeup but it's
a cheat to make the cleanup
faster & easier
No respectable clown would go
that route
But then again I'm from a much
earlier time
Chic,
I do not feel that you comment is fair or even founded.
Steve's make-up is an auguste make-up. It is traditional.
So, how can you possibly say that it is a "cheat?
I know that you have been around for a long time, but I would have loved to have been there when you told Lou that his make-up was a cheat. LOL.
Steve and Ryan are both excellent, and "respectable" show clowns who are actually carrying on the tradition. They have not skimped on the make-up, wardrobe, or props. And they have the big time talent to back up the way they look.
I have read, and respected, the comments that you post...but I feel that you are really off on this one.
Sincerely,
Dan
I think that perhaps Chic’s statement is because the old # 5 pink flesh stain on your shirt makeup is not seen in this photo. This makeup is very professional and refreshingly traditional; I hope he keeps the August alive and doesn’t follow me into that newly crowded character funny man clown stuff.
It only 'looks' like he cheated on the make-up. Actually, the skin-toned areas are also done with make-up, (see the tan on his arms.) I also had an Auguste face, not in small part because I really came to admire Papa Lou. I was faster and easier to do a white face than it was to do the Auguste. ~frank
PS - Chic - I concur with Dan, you're one of the most respected people on this blog and I hope that you continue to offer your unvarnished opinions for a long, long time!
Dummy up, he's actually a Doctor accused of killing his wife and he is on the lam.
I agree with Chic, that guy is a jerk.
And stuff costs more than it used to!

Thanks.

Having been on mudshows most of my life, I got a great chuckle from Chic's comment. Having not seen many clowns that were actually funny (Not that they weren't out there, they just hadn't been in the missions when we hired the rest of the help,,,LOL) and being very worn out by the whistle blowers from south of the border, I find it humorous that Steves makeup was the best thing to nit pick. They are my friends, so my opinion doesn't count for much, however I would put Steve and Ryan with or without makeup up against any clown duo working today, or yesterday.
What Casey said.
Gary’s right! This could be the notorious Doctor Copland who eliminate his wife. And there is something on his shirt
My apologies to all
I did not look closely enough
to see the flesh only the front
mask and I was certainly too
hasty with an off the cuff
I have seen "new age" clowns
who have avoided full face
neck & ears to allow for a
quick removal & cleanup
In many of the quick notes
I throw out in these items
I MOSTLY don't mean to offend
Apart from what you may have
heard I really do love the
business and most of the folks
I don't know Gary
He doesn't look like Jimmy
Stewart or the Fugitive
We love ya, Chic! I don't think Pio really used, or needed, FULL make-up and David Larible could get away with just the nose! As the man once said, "Talent Will Out." ~frank
I just checked some old photos and it doesn't look like Dougie Ashton or Laszlo Donnert used the flesh tone make-up either. (In Dougie's case it probably WAS to clean-up faster to make that first bus back to the train!) ~frank
To Chic Silber
I recently visited the K.M. I thought sure there was something about those new clowns that I could not put my finger on. Thanks for pointing it out...
To Gary Hill
Your right, I know for a fact they are fugitives. Dam run-aways from the RBBB. Sort of like the Buttons thing.
P.S. I heard on a good source that they ran-away, Over being made to use a whistle???
