Like a number of other well known elephant trainers, Souder began his career with Sells Bros. Circus (1880-81). Oddly enough, the Sells show was not known for outstanding elephant acts like Forepaugh and Barnum & Bailey. In fact several seasons they didn't even use them in the ring except for the leaps. |
