Barry said...: A lot of these old 20's and 30's era theatres are being restored all over the country and turned into performing arts centers. The last show I worked with played more than it's share of them and while they were most often a nightmare to get into and out of (a 13 piece band and 6 singers/ dancers is a tight fit on any stage) the history behind them is usually pretty fascinating. Some of them have been beautifully restored (some look like war zones, too, and haven't had a technical upgrade since they were built...always sure fire whoopee for the tech crew) and it was always a bit of a shock to find such beautiful old theatres in these tiny, remote places. Frankly, the only thing I miss about the last show I worked on is getting to explore the old theatres that it was often booked into.; 23 February, 2009 03:30
