Hoxie Bros. Circus #2

The two rows of quarter poles threw me at first but didn't Hoxie have a bale ring top with one center pole? The rings were placed around it in a triangular position.
The lead elephant looks like Dailey Show "Myrtle".

Buckles, what I can remember is that Hoxie did have at one time a conventional American style tent but the last time I saw the Hoxie show was in 1972 - 73 in Tallahassee and he did, indeed, have what was billed as a 'canvas colliseum" which was a medium to large round top with a single center pole with the three rings in a triangular placement. I do not remember how many quarters there were but in order to handle a flying act and a high wire act, there were quarters and the center peak was very high. I remember Gene Mendez actually using the top to get his balance as he steped onto the wire - he was performing solo on this date. It definately was not one of the high tech Euro-style one ring tops of today.

The first time Trudy & I went on Hoxie Bros., he had a conventional top, with three rings, 28' center poles, & a 50' middle piece over the center ring. It looked like an old swayback mare!

This looks like Gopher's show. He had a double quarter pole tent. The lead elephant looks like "BOO" and the male behind her is "Tommy" purchased from Ugene Johnson. Harry Locker presenting them.
