Do my watery old eyes deceive me!
Is this a Celotex ring?
Appears that Obama is right, there is a financial crisis.

Buckles,
Probably just economizing, to budget for that "obviously" high dollar MC Gold Clown act.

Big Apple Circus continues to utilize a dirt ring. The ring in this photo (which was taken at the beginning of the season in Virginia) and the ring at Stone Mountain Park in Atlanta at the moment, is a dirt ring.

The Rodion Trio are working on a ring carpet that is placed over the dirt for their act and for most of the other non animal features in the show.

Buckles,
You can add one more show to your list. Circus Pages has been in the Atlanta area for the past few weeks. We visited them in Lawrenceville, Georgia, just up the road from Stone Mountain, and they came to see our show on Saturday.

Don,
Is this a new ring curb? It looks higher than usual. Also, is the bandstand coming back next season?
Hope all is well,

The Rodion Trio (formerly Troupe Rodion at the MC festival) is perhaps the greatest Russian Barre act ever. Although I seriously doubt they perform the trick daily, Anna, the flyer, has accomplished a quadruple sommersault on the barre without using a mechanic. Full in back out doubles in swing, a triple, she does it all and with a charm and delightful modesty of a true performer. I would loveto see them in person. If the remainder of Big Apple's show is of this quality, it must be spectacular this season.

Hi Chris,

Yes, that is a new ring curb. It is higher than in the past to accommodate the djidit riding presented by Christine Zerbini and Sultan Kumisbayev in this show.

The bandstand is also new for this season. This year's theme is music and the band is featured throughout. Next season, the set will return to the previous format with the band above the artists' entrance.
