Roger, do you have any photos of 'Okie' ? He is the one who first sent me into a steel arena. How odd, no one mentions him after he died. Except you now. He is mentioned often in my new book, 'Wild Animal Circus' True tales from the Carson and Barnes Circus. circusdays@yahoo.com Dion
Do you know what happened to Eddie and Charlene Kuhn and their children? Eddie and Charlene were friends of my parents in SW Georgia (Edison) where they used to winter their circus. Would love to find out "the rest" of the story.
For Kathy: If you look at the "comments' section of the blog posting here for Sunday, March 08, 2009, headed "Cristiani-Wallace, 13 Aug 1962 #14," you'll see a number of additional comments about Kuhn's life (he died in 1979). The postings I sent for that day include some other images and perhaps comments so explore. We'd all be delighted for your additional knowledge of the Kuhn family--kids ages when you knew them, years they wintered near you, etc. Kuhn was very kind to me and I still have the souvenir smashed chair leg with its claw mark along with his whip handle. Thanks so much for sharing such wonderful informaiton.
My Mom is 80 and she and my Dad were friends with Eddie and Charlene in the 50's. I'll have to get more informaiton from her on where they wintered, etc and post. She has some wonderful stories of their visits together.
Hi Dick Do you have Eddie's complete obituary? Would love a copy. I know his Son and Joyce are both dead. Haven't found any information on Jeanne. Kathy Houston kewilsongenealogy@gmail.com
Hello to all, My name is Patrick Kuhn, Captain Eddie was my Grand father, My father was Edward Perry Kuhn Jr who is no lomger with us. I was glad to come across this post as I am very proud of my grand father and we traveled with him when I was young on his carnival "K&K Shows"
My father was very active in film photography and filmed Captain Kuhn performing at Playland Park South Bend Indiana in 1948 or so. you can see a rough cut of the video on youtube. I keep trying to improve the video...
Kathy, My name is Vern. I was raised by Joyce and her husband, Gary. The last i heard of Jeanne is that she was living in Hardin, MO. If anyone has any photos of Joyce I would be very glad to see them.
My mother, Jeanne Norton, now lives in Saint Joseph, MO with son Tino. They would be glad to answer any questions that she can remember. She is not as great with computer so I will do my best to help.
I hope I am not too late with this post... My name is Cheryl Kuhn, and I believe we are related. My grandfather was Herbert Anthony Kuhn of Buffalo NY, and he had a brother named Edward Perry Kuhn (as well as 4 other brothers & 2 sisters). I was told that Captain Eddie was his nephew. My grandfather had some property in the country near Buffalo, and one time Captain Eddie kept his animals there overnight in their traveling cages, after he had performed with the circus in Buffalo. Needless to say it caused quite a stir with the local farmers! I know that my father James Kuhn was born in Joplin MO & the family moved to Lima OH & then on to Buffalo. I have a photograph signed by your grandfather that says "To Jimmy & family"
Captain Eddie was our grandfather and Charlene was our step grandmother. We lived next to them in Peculiar MO for years until his death fro m a brain tumor. Charlene then moved and remarried. Heard both of her daughters Joyce and Jeannie died.
Hi Vern -- I have gathered a few pictures of Joyce that I would be glad to share -- my personal email is kwilson77064@gmail.com - just message me here or send me your info to the email and I'll send to you.
Glad to see friends and family if Captain Eddy are finding this video!! Originally fimed by AL Gaby at South Bend Indiana Playland Park. Chuck Gaby, son of the originator.

Incredibly, I never met Eddie Kuhn. He was an early mentor of my great friend, our late Don "Okie" Carr.
