Ringling-Barnum late 1930's #1

Scan11183, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

While showing the Fairgrounds in Raleigh with the Blue Show in 1995 there was a Flea Market being held in one of the barns and I was told someone was selling circus memorabilia. I bought several scrap books containing a number of RBBB photos, eight of which are included today and appear to have been taken on the same lot.
From the steel rimmed wheels on the baggage wagon in the background I'd say they were taken in the late 1930's. None are of particular consequence except the final three which show the configuration of the wild animal chutes thru which the cats traveled from their dens to their performing arena.
Unfortunately, this arrangement ultimately led to the deaths of so many people in the Hartford fire.

Mr. Naughton is one of those hard to find people that can use the words 'petulant' and 'sans' in a sentence that makes complete sense. I am always impressed.
