Evie Althoff 2009 #1 (From Henry Penndorf)

Evie Althoff.1 - 2009, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

These three pictures come from the German web site, Foto Comunnity (http://www.fotocommunity.de/pc/pc/cat/3648). The only explanation or caption to the pictures was Evie Althoff trainer of tigers. Although there is no mention of what circus these pictures were taken at, I would think them to be recent. Using the computer translator, I think It said
that she is beginning her 70th year (age). Could this be the same Evie Althoff that presented a horse riding tiger with the Ringling Blue Unit in the late sixties?

I don't think this is the same lady that was on Ringlong Bros. several years ago.

it looks like her. I didn't realize that she was still working in the circus. She was a model, married to Franz Althoff, worked the horseback riding tiger on Ringling Blue in 1970 and it was an elegant presentation (Franz's dad I believe worked the act previously on Ringling). Later I heard that Evy (that's the American spelling) and Franz divorced but can't confirm. She was probably in her late 20s, early 30s when she worked on Ringling--Franz worked liberty horses then and the show also featured Elvin Bale, The Stephensons and Tito Gaona, among others.

yes, this is Evy Althoff. The Tiger act was part of her and Franz Althoffs Circus, Circus Althoff Williams, and no, she is not in her 70th year. She is a lot younger than that, but I am not telling. The act was trained by her Father in law, Adolf Althoff and her husband Franz.

The Althoffs are cousins to the

Williams family (Harry Carola

and Jeanette)

Adolph has trained the act in

Germany and it came to the Blue

Show and followed Charly while

the arena was still in place

He presented it for a year or

two before Evie was trained to

take his place (scared silly)
