Rudy Bros. Circus 1958

In relation to Mr. Beheim's excellent pictures, this is Rudy Jacoby's circus a decade earlier.
William and Babe Woodcock presenting "Anna May", "Lydia" and "Sadie" with Rudy Bros. Circus in 1958 at Salem, Oregon.

Note the vertical bull tubs, when you tipped them over on their side they rolled in a straight line.

Mr Woodcock, did this make the tubs less stable when in use? And if so, did the elephants learn to adjust to this?

These tubs were quite low and not much chance of tipping over.
However as the elephants grew we had to raise them up and widen the base so they would fit inside each other when loaded.
I have two of them on each side of the driveway bearing lamp posts.
