Who was Pat English? Never heard of her. When Terrel Jacobs had a disagreement with Arthur Wirtz people a day before opening in Chicago Stadium in 51. Frank Orman brought this Julie Allen up from some game farm in Florida to work Terrels act. I was at the rehearsal and it was a disaster and Terrel showed up just in time to go in the cage and toss her out in the nmidst of a big clem and needless to say Wirtz got together with Terrel and Miss Allen was not heard from again by yours truly until this recently showing on the blog. Who are these two ladies and where did they come from?
I recall that this blond young lady at that time was known as Julie Rand Allen. Would appreciate any info about her. What say Roger?
Col. Herriott,
That's how much the profession has changed and fallen. Today, with her "cute, charm" she would be a super star/diva, and could have manipulated a great worldwide career. LOL

Addendum to Col. Herriott,
I recall somebody asking Lou Regan about a cat trainer named Julie Rand Allen. If my aged memory serves, his response was "Wirtz was a swinging ladder short in the Milk Maids Folly, so they gave her a chair and whip and told her she could be the cat trainer, so they didn't have to pay Terrel the big dollars."

Does anybody know who Pat English was married to?

In answer to the Colonel: I've looked in my files, and have scant mention of Julie Allen Rand. Seems she got around Louie Roth in his last years, and there was minor association with Mabel Stark. I once saw her listed as being from Miami, and I thought she might have been out of the zoo there, but nothing of mine substantiates this. I have nothing else for her.
Pat English was a flash in the pan with Beatty's Jungle Zoo in Ft. Lauderdale, was in the Pete Smith short, CAT COLLEGE, got that cigarette ad (remember those in the old RBBB programs with showfolks puffing Camels?), and that was that.
Once the scanner is working, I'll send Ernestine Clarke's cigarette ad.
I meant to point out that this is the best photo you'll see of the correct grip for a kitchen chair with a gun. The middle, ring, and little finger grip the inside right rung of the chair back, while the forefinger and thumb hold the pistol against it. It looks awkward, but isn't at all. Give it a try and you'll discover the grip is entirely natural once your hand and wrist are toughened up to it.
