Buckles,
The elephant wants a drink, and the kid is spraying it on the leg. Look at the elephants eye, looking at it wondering, "what the hell is going on here?" I've known a few elephants, and I assume you have knownn a few more, who would fetch baby Leroy a cheeky wallop and take the hose, and help themselves. LOL
Wade
Wade, I think this elephant knows better than to cheeky wallop the Baby Leroy when Captain Woodcock in on the beat, keeping one eye on the elephant and the other on the camera.
SMILE and TRUNK UP!
The other posting on elephants/tigers and their names was started with one simple question by me--what is the protocol for naming the animals, especially when the animals are owned by one and trained by another.
I was wondering who named Icky.
Come to think of it, as was suggested, naming a tiger MICHAEL is not a half-bad idea.
Naming elephants after bosses or their wives, such as "Louie", "Bonnie", "Sophie" is always good for brownie points.
Buckles,
And I assumed that was the reason for a lot of elephant names, as well as some human names that have been given to other animals. Reed, Maclain, Gardner, etc. I can see for elephants as a sign of respect. I could also see a Woodcock or a Herriott in a herd. But I have to be honest, a William or a Johnny might sound goofy, unless some serious suck up was called for.
Wade
Sells-Floto Circus once named two punks "Kas" and "Mo" after the States of Kansas and Missouri since the parent company, The Denver Post, hoped to improve circulation.
Mike,
You might assume the elephant would know better, but you would be assuming wrong.
In regards to Icky/Iggy, I won't start anything by telling you the various name "changes"(5 variations of some that I know of) because of an accent, and then try to decide what it originally was, as the records are all mucked up.)
Name spelling on records!!!! Oh my God. Sheba, Sjiba, Jiva, Sheva, Shiva. All the same name for the same animal. LOL Maybe Buckles wants to that explain the accept changes, I don't. LOL And naming a tiger Michael isn't even a half good idea. You need to let "Michael you dirty rotten c*** su****, you hateful ba*****, SIT DOWN!!!!" roll off your tongue, then decide if it is a half bad idea. LOL
Wade Burck
I would think that a Herriott or Woodcock in a herd would be a bad idea. I think the honor should be given to an outstanding single act animal.
Brownie Points--
Mike 1000
Wade 0
LOL
Jewell News motorcycle riding Lion was named after Kenneth Feld. Capt, did David Mannas name his one eared elephant down in FL., Buckles.
I had a "none to friendly" addition to the cat act this year (Mr. Gary Hill can attest to her personality)
I almost named her after JRNII's wife Shirley, then after consideration of the "God damnit Shirley get your a@@ down here you son of a b%$#@" factor, I decided Tora was a better name for this one. She has turned out to be a great cat, but I would have looked like a jerk had she not,,,lol
Casey, glad she is working out for you! Nice name too.
Casey, I should have said, a name that fit her. Tora, means "Attack" as you well know! That jump across the cage that day at none other than JRN2.
Mr. Hill, "Tora" is 'tiger' in Japanese. It only means attack by secondary implication- you're probably thinking of the war film, "Tora! Tora! Tora!"?
Masako, I stand guilt as charged! I read the subtitles just this Sunday as the movie"Tora Tora Tora" played to remember the bombing of Pearl Harbor on Dec 7th 1941. I am sure Casey knew the real definition?
I didnt know it when I named her, I just learned that fact last week while watching a Pearl Harbor special on the History Channel. I though it was attack for years.
