YETTY (From Bill Strong)

YETTY, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Didn't you show these same wagons at the American Circus Corp. Quarters, I think in the Polo Grounds pics, they belonged to Terrell Jacobs, am I right????
I have some more pics of them somewhere in my files.

"A few years later Mr. Jacobs had these turned into tractor/trailer units.
Once when we were laying off at Paul Kelly's, my dad loaned me out for a few days to drive one for the Lion King.
Quite an attention getter."

When Terrel joined Cole Bros. for the 1950 tour these old circus cage wagons were put in shape by Terrel at his place in Bunker Hill and with his arena wagon were picked up on trip from Ojus, Fl. to Chicago Stadium and loaded on a flat and would be used that season using old fashioned chute on indoor dates. These photos are taken in New York in "Yankee Stadium" and not at the Polo Grounds. The cages would be spotted behind pitchers mound with arena in front of them. Three rings would be at first, third and home. Center poes across infield for arial ballet and bARBETTES IRON JAW. Lots of outdoor rigging acts including "Yetty" Wallenda great sway pole, Wallenda high wire, Betty and Benny Fox,etc.
