In 1956 Jules would have just left the STL Zoo and partnered with Paul Kelly. This photo look like it was taken at the Zoo where the arena would be enclosed in the winter for practice. The routine pictured is when Jules would crown "the King of Beasts".
With the respect due Jacot as a trainer, as depicted here, there are photos of Joe Arcaris, possibly lost by now with his passing and no accounting of what happened with his personal memorabilia, in which he trained a lion wedding at Benson's. The bride and groom animals wore formal nuptial attire--she in a fancy gown, and he in a tux and top hat. Depending on your tastes in wild animal acts, this may not be as exciting as a rip-snorting fighting act, or as appealing as the "act beautifuls" of another genre, but no one can deny that getting lions to hold still for being so dressed is skilled training.
