Ringling bound!

Scan10614, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

One afternoon in late 1969, the big Baraboo truck came pulling up my driveway. Earlier in the year Irvin Feld had purchased the Baraboo elephants and ponies and hired the Herriotts.
Having been routed to Venice by way of the Macy's Parade in New York, Johnny wanted to clean things up before pulling into the quarters which was another 70 miles down the road.
I asked Frankie what he thought of going to the big show and he said, "Too far from Dombroski's, I'm just along for the trip."

Dombroski's has been gone from Baraboo nearly as long as Johnny. Remember the big, freezing cold schooners of beer?

And remember Dombroski popping out his glass eye and rolling it down the bar!

Did this truck haul the equipment for the traveling unit?

Didn't Bobby Gibbs wind up with the trailer?

Bobby did have the trailer for a while, can't give a date. I remember you could double deck the ponies.

At some point did someone mess up the nice paint job, and put some windows in it?
