Lottie (From Jimmy Hall)

lotti, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Buckles,
A more recent photo of Lotti. I hadn't seen her in over 20 years, she came over several times to visit during our Vidbel tented tour. Definitely a class "A" performer and person. This Photo was taken by Paul C. Gutheil Circus fan and dear friend.

Sincerely,
James C. Hall

We only got back from Vermont late on the 6th where the only "Circus" we encountered was a quote from Calvin Coolidge on a plaque in his hometown of Plymouth Notch. We were deeply saddened to hear of Lottie's passing. She had only called a couple of weeks before to thank me for some photos and while stating that she was having a rough time, sounded pretty good.
From the day we first met her over 20 years ago she was a warm, lovely
lady and the next time we saw her she gave us autographed publicity photos of herself.

She was an honorary member of the Felix Adler Tent and a number of years ago we incorporated a birthday party for her into our annual banquet. Her brother Francis and a number of members of the Brunn family were there. At that time I gave her a photo I took of her a number of years before in Frank Robie's living room. She had been complaining about her arthritis bothering her and then proceeded to pick up 3 or 4 apples out of a fruit bowl and juggled them every which way apparently effortlessly and wonderfully.

We will miss her, Francis and Teddy very much...all that incredible talent notwithstanding; they were very down to earth, dear, lovely people.

I did want to thank Jimmy Hall for his kind photo credit and friendship. It's people like the Brunns, Halls, Herriotts, Woodcocks and countless others too numerous to mention that make so much so worthwhile.

Not meaning to get emotional about this BUT as the days, weeks, etc go by I, personally, often think to myself how privileged and blessed we are to know so many of you good people. I think I said it first to Gunther and have since repeated it, I would rather know and be able to call a Circus performer a friend than anybody in any other field of entertainment.

Thank you all for all the thrills and joy you have given us and continue to give us. The world needs more Circus.

God Bless You Lottie; Rest In Peace.

Just a fan, Paul Gutheil
