Jimmy O'Dell

Scan10612, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Written on the back of this Homer Walton picture:

"Warren Earl Gibbs and Tommy.
Weight 11,150 lbs.
9 ft. high
Tusks 5' 4" long
15 3/4", in circumference
Ringling-Barnum offered $30,000 for him"

I wish Mr. Walton had dated this since the eventual purchase price in 1986 vastly exceeded 30K.

Where does the name Warren Earl Gibbs come from? Did Jimmy use an alias. Could be I guess, but those ears would always be a big giveaway.

Wasn’t it O’Dell who wound up killing himself?
