Circus Boy book cover.

Buckles: am about to send you a set of six Frank Buck's, the cover of
an old hardcover Circus Boy book, and
perhaps a couple of other items. Diane said to be sure to tell you that
the aforementioned will be coming in sections

as it's too big to send all at once. The Buck cards have no
date on them, but I bought them as a child in the Bronx.
We moved to NJ in 1950 so I'm guessing I got them around 1948/49. I've
only got 12 cards; the highest # being 89.
Lastly, I'm sending the photocopied first two pages of a 1928 edition of
Edgar Rice Burrough's "Tarzan". I was
rather intrigued by what I read from the second paragraph of page one to
the top portion of page two. I almost forgot
I also copied an 11x14 (dark) I made of a shot I took of the Vidbel Lot
during a NJ stand probably 15+ years ago.
We, and many other fans, continue to miss Vidbel's Olde Tyme Circus very
much, wonderful people, terrific shows;
we used to plan our spring, summer, and early fall around Vidbel dates.
I've heard Al isn't doing real well and I know
he and Joyce would love hearing from fans and old friends. With luck
we'll be able to see them for a visit in the next
few weeks.

You've got to treasure the memories and tell Showfolks and friends alike
that you do treasure the memories they've afforded
you and that you care about them. It's the least anyone can do and I
know it means alot to most. Like WWII and other vets,

alot of veteran performers are leaving us all too often, hopefully knowing
that those of us remaining on this fragile planet appreciated
their efforts and thank them as well. I'm in the Legion and I still thank
Legionnaires and VFW's for what they did.

Guess I'd be smart to get off the soapbox before I get knocked off and by
the way...THANK YOU SHOWFOLKS SO MUCH
FOR SO MUCH.
Best as always,

Paul

A while back the Vidbel farm was the location of an advertisement shoot for the printed medium. The Vidbel tent was raised and Buckles and Anna May were the feature.

As tradition on professional commercials a first-class catering truck was hired out of New York City some 150 miles away.

This stainless steel trailer had everything to eat, just like a first-class restaurant. Many dishes were prepared to order.

Al was more impressed with the food trailer than anything else and kept inviting neighbors to have lunch like the grand host. They had to tell him to stop inviting people that were not connected with the production.

A few minutes after telling Al to stop the invitations he waved down a neighbor's car and invited them over for some lunch.
