James A. Bailey also went by the name James A. Gordon. It was under that alias, and not James A. Bailey, that he married Louisa McCaddon. His wife and others thought that Gordon was his real family name until Bailey's brother visited him at Detroit one year and the entire story of his origin as a McGinnis finally came out. Joseph T. McCaddon and at least one of the Hutchinson boys perpetuated the Bailey name by also assuming aliases incorporating the adopted name Bailey.

Ringling Brothers and Barnum and McGinnis Circus just doesn't cut it.
