This is the 1929 John Robinson hippo den which later saw service on Hagenbeck-Wallace.

I cannot recall right off just what transpired to send it to Cole. We know they ditched the old Buchanan/Robbins hip wagon (now at CWM). That must have been in 1939.

I believe they got this one from Peru in the deal which saw RBBB loan them some animals (including hippo Chester) after the Rochester fire.

It wound up converted into a semi for Kelly Morris. Then Bob Snowden got it and later sold it to the Beatty show after it went motorized. I think it rotted away in the Deland grave yard.

I think you are correct. This, along with the two Al G Barnes canvas wagons and the former seal cage went over after the Feb fire. Cole Bros had to give up their mid west dates to Ringling for this equipment and use of the Peru winter quarters. They made Denver I think that year and went west after that date.
