Big Apple Circus 1993 #1

Scan10388, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

Ben came up with this painting a few days ago and we have been trying to figure out what it is, isn't this what they call a water color?
Written on the bottom is "Big Apple Circus, D Boilean 6/250".
Ben thinks the digits indicate that this is #6 of a set of 250.

We had a pretty good storm last night and when I went to bed the internet was down and such was the case when I arose this morning.
As always I had to wait for Shannon to show up to set things right.

This would be termed a limited edition print. The 6/250 indicates this is the sixth copy numbered of an edition or print run of 250 copies of this same image. The process or method that created the print could be one of several such as lithographed, screen print, etc., that would require looking at the original.

My limited artistic guess is that you have a print of a watercolor. The lower the number, the better and more valuable the print. The fact that there are only 250 also helps the value. The fact that it's of Woodcock's elephants makes it priceless.

The elephants look positively deformed so the artist must be good.

This is my first time to see an elephant act worked by a guy in fighting cat act wardrobe, pith helmet, gun belt, and all.
