Paul van Pool was a Coca Cola Bottler in Joplin, MO. He was one of the all time great fans, and he could afford it. I got in touch with him in the mid-1950s via a chap with the Coca Cola Company here in Atlanta. I was dating his daughter and upon learning of my circus interest he told me to contact Paul.
Richard, I can recall several things that girls' fathers told me, but I never had one of them suggest I contact Paul van Pool.
