The elephants are "Jean" and "Annette Marie". Frank aquired them from Jurgen Schultz for the Audubon zoo in 1978 as 6 year olds. The Murrays owned "Topsy" and "Panya". When they left the zoo, Frank traded "Panya" for "Annette Marie" and both parties got a deal.

Dear Buckles,
Sorry to be sending this "off topic" question, but I'm not sufficiently tech savy to know how to send it directly. I am researching the 1954 Ringling show. I understand that they had a "small" herd of 28 bulls that season (wouldn't that be something to see today?). Any info about the elephants that were on the show that year--before and after '54 would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, please say Hi to the Colonel for me. He may remember me--we worked together at Circus World in Orlando many moons ago.

The last seven listed were babies added the previous season.

1953 was almost the same with a total of 27.
However 1955 introduced 23 more babies and the show toured with no less than 50 elephants for most of the season.
