Blue Show 1979

Scan10307, originally uploaded by bucklesw1.

This picture taken in a quaint little town in upstate New York called Glens Falls. This and Hershey, Pa. were unique inasmuch as the back door was situated on the side of the building, directly behind the center ring. Sort of a return to the old days.
Returning to the elephant tent are the nineteen elephants used in the show's opening long mount. The first five are "Anna May", "Peggy", "Hugo", "George" and "Carmen".

Buckles,
The animal walk to Glens Falls was a beaut, was it not.

Glens Falls is in a great vacation spot in the Lake George vicinity.

My dad grew up in Glens Falls, and told a story of the Ringling show setting up the tent there in the early forties...My dad skipped school that morning and headed to the lot where he got a "job" blowing up balloons. He left the lot to head back to school and take a math test...a little dizzy from expelling so much air, but all the while had his free pass in his pocket to that evenings performance! It was one of his most prized childhood memories!

Glens Falls was the Hanneford family's residence. Poodles and others are buried there.
