Imagine the reaction today, if RBBB was to announce that it was going to feature a huge elephant the size of Jumbo. Then consider the response from their insurer, arena managers, their marketers, the train men and others.
King Tusk with his magnificent ivory was very impressive, but he wasn't nearly double the height of the average citizen, as demonstrated in these views.
Jumbo was originally slated to be aggrandized as "The Last of the Mastadons," a brutish, fearsome creature, but when it came out that he was generally docile and carried children on his back, the marketing lead was changed to the "Children's Pet" sort of lead. Jumbo did have his own "time," but it appears to have coincided with winter quarters.
