Buckles, why would the show have been framed with so many lovely parade wagons when I assume it did not parade? Did Mr Maynard end up with the last of the Christy equipment, wagons Terrell and Adkins passed on when they bought Christy equipment for Cole the year before?
I don't understand why he needed to buy anything since the show used a canopy. Unless the original plan was frame a daily parade and the price was right.
Aspects of this wagon dated back to 1868 [G. F. Bailey "Golden Horse" bandwagon], and other parts to 1879 [P. T. Barnum "Orchestmelochor"], but it had likely been rebuilt several times before and after it achieved this tableau format in the mid-1890s on Barnum & Bailey.
