Barbara came up with these pictures, most of which I had never seen before. Unfortunately some are of poor quality but as Fred Pfening says, "Serve as a window to the past!" |

In a conversation with Francisco Reynoso, in the presence of his partner Jesse Cadona,(who did a great "Cloud Swing" himself), Francisco said, "Manuel Baragon is the best I ever saw"!
i saw manuel baragon many times as a kid and it was one of those acts that i will never forget. he defined cloud swing, and set a standard for everyone else that i have never seen duplicated. he was a great performer whom i feel never quite got the recognition he deserved.
Some years back, I think it was Bandwagon that ran an article on movie cowboys on circuses. Seems the Gene Autry people won a suit to stop those using Doug Autry on the titles. Someone else might know more about this.

I believe you will find that there was a brother named Doug, who chose to make a buck riding on his brothers coat tails. There was anothewr brother who got involved with some mud shows by the name of Art Mix. I remember him well.
is Manuel Baragon related to Henry Baragon ? CleanRaul
He was Henry's father.
I too saw the great "Emanuel" Baragon as I remember the name. I since have seen many others including my brother in law Miguel Meraz (highly praised in print by Billy Barton) and Mario Preciado (he has never worked outside Mexico) who had even better timing. Baragon was the best of all. I saw him in a smallish tent hit the canvas at the top of his swing while laying on the rope and hang in the air while the rope dropped leaving clear space between him and anything. Both Miguel and Mario say this is impossible but I SAW it.
