I had the idea that Col Joe was in either Spain or Germany and owned by interests there. This suggests that the Fuentes from Mexico own him.
If this is Mexico might this not be "Louie" that I trained with the Polack Show in 1968?
Last I heard he was in So. America and still going strong.

As there was no explanation of location originally, and I assumed as it was Circus Zeitung and the other photos are Europe that this was Joe. He sure does a hind leg stand like Joe, and I even checked the curvature of the tusks against Joe's. But the outside nail on the right front foot is not Joe's, as I realized after the location was published. Sorry

Then I guess the question still stands,
Who is this elephant ?
Marco - Is Joe on tour with Krone this season? Their 2008 souvenir book only features Casselly's Africans.

David Blasko purchased a male elephant from Roman Schmitt at Busch Garden in the late eighties. Then sold the elephant to the Fuentes family in tne early nineties. They bill him as Big Boy The Million Dollar Elephant.

If you are referring to the souvenir book with the lion act, that is from the first show at the Krone bau. They have three different shows in the winter program and the Cassellys were in the first program. Joe is on tour currently with the other Krone elephants.
