Buckles, You should go back for teardown the sound is un-believable when the poles come down on asphalt. The vinyl top holds the sound in and it's enough to blow your mind. Also very dangerous, as the asphalt lets the poles slide and sometimes it takes several down at the same time when one pole hits the next, etc. I really miss the setup and teardown, but I can't leave my business to run by itself, so I have probably seen my last setups and teardowns. Does anyone know if these are the same set of poles that came from Oral Roberts? Wonder if Harry or Mr.Kitto would know? Would hate to see this type of tent stopped being used. Are there any canvas tops used anymore? P.J.Holmes
PJ, I don't know if these are the Roberts poles, but several years ago Geary told me that they cost $300 a piece and that the minimum order was 15 poles. With the increase in prices I can't even begin to say how much they would cost today. Bob Kitto
Thanks Bob, Maybe they had to purchase that many when they went to the larger top. Would hate to think what they would cost today. Scrap prices for that type of aluminium is in the 1.00 to 1.05 a pound today. P.J.Holmes
Pete and Bob, The Oral Roberts poles that D. R. bought when Oral gave up the tents were tapered at both ends and very eary to spot. They are probably in a pile some where in winterquarters now as the ones in these photos are the same diameter all the way along the poles. I can remember when they bought the Oral Roberts poles saying they were blessed and the circus sure neeeds a blessing now. Harry
Thanks Harry, You are right about the poles,as these are the same diameter at the bottom. Also there is no hole where the loop of cable would have been when pulling them up in the old days. P.J.

Take a good look at this! As Buckles said, You probably won't see the inside of the tent, look like this, next year.
