The Campbells took possession of this wagon about 1908, buying it from Pawnee Bill. It was with his outfit by the mid-1890s and may have had a Forepaugh heritage, and maybe another show or two before that. Another early Forepaugh tableau went over to Lillie's outfit, thereby establishing the pathway.
Was the bugler or trumpeter putting out a call for the parade to mount up? There's a mid-19th century poster of a bandchariot showing a buger out in the distance, calling the people's attention to the coming parade.
