Ringling-Barnum Band 1948 #2

The "OOM " and "PAH" section: Johnny Evans, Harvey Phillips, Frank Siminer and Paul Davis.

"I saw the Ringling Show in 1948 and remember there was no band stand, as you can see the band was seated on the ground behind the center ring.
No doubt, so as to not interfere with Concello's new seat wagons.
Just think, 60 years have passed and I can still remember so many of the selections they played whereas the "National Anthem" was the only recognizable tune played in last December's Blue Show."

Harvey Phillips became a college professor (I believe at Indiana)and was billed as the world's greatest tuba player. For some years, he fronted a group of tuba players who played at some holiday events.
Harvey played the piccolo part on
the Stars and Stripes forever, which is a really tough part.

Just prior to opening in Venice in 1978 they were having a full music rehearsal and Dave Mullaney pointed out the tuba player saying he was Johnny Evans.
If so he had a long career as a musician.
