Note the “Largest Living Hippopotamus in Captivity” at the left or at least the wagon for same. This would have been cage #88. That slogan on the sideboards was last used in 1940.
Also note Denman dressed for work in coat and tie. There are movies from ca. 1940 showing Walter McClain dressed the same way while attending to the pachyderms at the train unloading. They looked like they were headed for a day at the office.
