The Chicago ordinance that would have banned the guides and tethers used in elephant husbandry did not move forward. Because of the great speakers and many letters and e-mails from people like you who opposed it, the ordinance was not voted on. Instead, the council has asked for more study and communication between both sides. That is good for us. More education means that a positive outcome for us is more likely. Thanks to all of you who got your letters in so quickly. This will be coming up again in Chicago and other places for sure. We have to be vigilant and get factual information out before the animal rights extremists get a foothold. ~Kari |
