Here are those photos I mentioned of Ruth and
Trilby. They were residents of the Audubon Zoo from
1966-1971. They were transfered from here to an
unknown zoo. An interesting note on Trilby is that the
studbook has her listed as being born around 1902 and
she was put on the Sells-Floto show around 1905. This
makes her a pretty old girl when she left Audubon.
Ruth (Hagenbeck-Wallace) is listed as being born
around 1933.

Buckles,
Let's not slough the Stud books just yet. They are usually more reliable then "antidoted pedigrees." It might explain the discrepancies in this case.
It is interesting to note, that elephant hooks have "shrunk" over the years. Yet whips, crops, spurs, have stayed pretty uniform for the past 100 years.
