Many people believe his biggest mistake in that movie...was Redlightin the Grift....I believe his biggest mistake was....Choosin Holly over Angel! Jim Zajicek (Roger Ebert)
we've lost a true legend, a great actor, a great person. and he had a true respect for circuses. on a press tour once, i maneuvered until i sat next to him at dinner and we talked more about gsoe that the miniseries he was promting. he was always a gentleman and i ran into him several more times - and we always talked about gsoe. if he remembered me, i'm sure he though "here we go again" when he saw me. meeting him and talking with him several times was a highlight of my newspaper career.
Buckles, When this movie is mentioned, it is with reverence and pointing out the greatness of Brad and his exploits. You don't hear much about Buttons, the clown who killed his wife, and hid behind a face paint, or the German elephant trainer who had some personality disorders also like Buttons. Wade Burck
To put some of this into perspective, in regard to those of our leads in GSOE,now gone:
Emmett Kelly, 82, died 28 March 1979, in Sarasota, of a heart attack.
Cornel Wilde, "Sebastian", died at 74 of leukemia, on 16 October 1989, in Los Angeles.
Dorothy Lamour, "Phyllis", was 81 when she died of a heart attack in Los Angeles, on 22 September 1996.
Betty Hutton, "Holly", died at 86, in Palm Springs, California, of colon cancer, on 11 March 2007.
Charlton Heston, "Brad", died of complications of Alzheimer's at his home in Beverly Hills, on 5 April 2008, at 84.
Today, April 11, six days after Mr. Heston's passing, the Los Angeles media is still covering his career, and Turner Classic Movies cancelled their entire schedule for today to honor Heston with a series of his movies. They won't be doing that for too many of the others.
He was among the greatest icons of cinema. He served as President of Screen Actors Guild for 6 years, longer than anyone else in that post. And he was one of the industry's finest gentlemen, as is testified by all who knew him.

Gotta agree with the Curator on the Holly over Angel thing. Angel was the one who really had sawdust in her veins.

....Yes The Ladies all agree....It's always wise to choose the elephant diva....

I'd just like to know who came up with the line, in regard to the giraffe with the sore throat, "Well
just get a cue stick and swab it out."

Paul,
I may be wrong, but was it Doc Henderson? LOl
