Nice to see how colorful those ring curbs add to what would have been an empty open space and I am Sure the Murrays are pleased that they don't have to lead them thru their routine, ala Ringling. I must cfhalk one up for Johnny and Elvin. I guess the found that the public enjoys animals in the circus or else they sure would not be there.
There are still three of the Beatty-Cole elephants alive. Tina & Jewel are now owned by Willie Davenport out in Texas. Bessie was retired to Wild Adventures Park in Valdosta, Georgia where she keeps company with Shirley from the Oscar and Carin Cristiani herd and Queenie from the Circus Gatti herd. Incidentally, Liz Dane who raised Queenie, still visits her from New England every year. Bob
Bessie passed away. Here is an e-mail response I received from Wild Adventures March 24th:
"We too were saddened by Bessies death, she was a sweet old girl and we were glad she could spend her last years at the park with her friends Queenie and Shirley. As they were both here prior to Bessies arrival, Queenie does indeed have a friend in residence and we will provide her all the comforts she deserves as she lives out her twilight years.
Thank you for contacting us with your concerns and please be assured we will take care of Queenie to the best of our abilities.
What about Beatty-Cole Elephants Frieda and Debbie ? Frieda was on the show from the early 70's to the late mid 90's. Debbie was purchased from I believe Carson & Barnes and was with the show from mid 80's thru the mid 90's. Any info and updates from anyone? Joe Giordano

Johnny,
The animals or the beautiful ladies? Don't focus.

OOPS! I was told a couple weeks ago that Bessie died in January of this year and forgot it already. My apologies.

Joe,
Freida and Debbie now reside in Tenn. at Carol Buckleys Santuary. Debbie was a wonderful elephant, but Freida was a different deal.

Debbie was on the Beatty-Cole show in 1974, along with two other punks, Missy and Omi, who have since passed.
