What would be the years of these two elephant round up photos. I can say they are the most incredible pictures of a group of elephants that I have ever seen. Seeing is believing and I would have never believed it could be. It appears to be a Mahout with each elephant. Who owned all of these animals? Amazing. How often is this round up done and for what reason.??
No wonder why I hate to miss a morning at the blog. Keep up the good work Buckles.
What a great picture.

thank you.Mr.Bukles
I think most of the elephants were owned by the logging companies in Thailand and India years ago. There might have been occasions when the mahouts owned their elephants, but that seemed to be out of the ordinary. Now it seems to have changed to more mahouts owning their elephants because they are not used for logging as much as they used to be. There used to be a website that tracked by radio collar some of the former work elephants that were released back in to the wild. I haven't tried to look that one up in a couple of years, but it was interesting. A lot of mahouts that owned their own elephants in India and Thailand have gone begging so to speak just to feed their animals and themselves.
