Ringling-Barnum 1930's #2

This variation of the "swinging ladder" was used on the Ringling Show for many years. It was revolved by hand, the excess rope at the top played some part. I'm sure one of you aerialists could explain how this apparatus worked.

AS i remember Alberto Zoppe had an act like this, the rope was wrapped, a man on the ground pulled the rope to make it revolve

Barbette did this with a good looking guy in peter pan tights pedaling a bicycle hung in the center and girls on perches doing Iron Jaw with serpentines and revolve. He did it in two rings on Cole in 49 and 50 and I believe he did one ring of it on Polack. It was great with the tinkey dink waltz music. Probably one of the best uses of Iron Jaw I have seen or heard of.

Ronnie Lewis was one of the pedlars among other good looking dudes. I think Chippendales.

Barbette came on the Polack Show when we were there, I think 1967.
His aerial number was accompanied with music by Offenbach of which I have been a fan ever since.
