One of the first cat act photos I ever took, I was 17 at the time. Here is Robert Baudy at the Hartford, CT Shrine Circus in 1964.

Thanks, Jim, for I have good memories of this fine act as I've commented before. Sure remember that distinctive and classy cage and the props with the nice gold scrollwork, not overdone. We were about the same age that year when I would have seen Baudy at the Melha Shrine in Springfield, part of a circuit of Wirth dates.

Jimmy Cole,
I thank you also. I have never been able to figure out how to make a balanced, equal number on each side pyramid, with an even number of animals.

Wade, Between all the cat act history I am giving you on this blog, plus a the normally restricted view of some of my finer photography work, you owe me at least one lunch. That will be Outback..none of this McDonalds crap.

JIM: Sure wish I had started taking circus photos when I was 17 (that would be 1959). Ironically my first circus photos were of Gunther at the Garden in 1969 and they weren't of this caliber...this is a fine shot. My
personal thanks for all your contributions to the blog; I greatly enjoy them.

PS To Dick Flint also wish I knew a tenth of what you and Buckles know, and thanks to the Blog, if I live long enough, I may. Best Paul

Jimmy Cole,
I responded to your request about eat's, on the blog early this afternoon. I guess it got lost in the mail. LOL. I don't want to to think I was whelching out on my duties and responsibilities. I'll hand deliver conformation by Email in the morning. Until then, thank you for the picture. When I heard overhang on the arena, I pictured about a half dozen thing's it could looked like. It wasn't until I saw you picture, that I realized I had never seen one like that. Quite elegant and unobtrusive to most that have been used. The props!!! Show me a picture of anything, in any country in the world, in that era that was more beautiful and stylish? I never saw a picture of the act before, Jimmy. Again, thank you very much.

Paul, Your's maybe were not of this caliber, but they were of Gunther, so that makes yours way better. If you have some of those early photos handy, I would sure love to see them. Speaking of learning something, what do you think of this "European style"/"American style" deal?
My best to you and Diane,
Wade Burcj

Hi Jim,
I'd be really interested in chatting to you about the fantastic photos you have taken of Robert Baudy over the years. I may be in need of some for an Animal Planet programme which features him.
Please do get in touch.
